About Us
Our Story
The Suggs Foundation was born from one woman’s determination to transform her lived experience into a source of healing, empowerment, and lasting community support. What began as a deeply personal journey soon became a mission to ensure that no family raising a child on the autism spectrum feels alone, overlooked, or without the support they need to thrive.
At its core, The Suggs Foundation exists to serve autistic families in underserved communities—providing education, advocacy, holistic support, and connection rooted in lived experience, not theory. We believe families deserve more than resources; they deserve a community that sees them, hears them, and stands with them.
Our Founder — Taisha Suggs
Taisha Suggs is a dedicated autism advocate, community builder, and the heart behind The Suggs Foundation. As a mother of children on the autism spectrum, Taisha’s advocacy work began through lived experience—experiencing the challenges of navigating systems that often overlook families in underserved communities.
Her passion for community, inclusion, and care was shaped long before her foundation began. Raised in a family that valued education, kindness, and service, Taisha learned early on that community support transforms lives. When she became a mother, she saw firsthand the gaps in support for families like hers—gaps in understanding, resources, and genuine empathy.
Taisha’s professional background in healthcare and customer service strengthened her natural gifts of patience, empathy, and active listening—all of which now guide her leadership. Today, she continues her education in childhood development while dedicating her life to building a foundation that supports families through real, lived experience—not theory.
Why We Exist
Too often, families raising children on the autism spectrum—especially in underserved areas—are asked to navigate complex systems with little guidance and even less understanding. That can leave families feeling isolated, overwhelmed, and unsure where to turn.
The Suggs Foundation exists to bridge that gap—to provide education and advocacy, yes—but also to offer holistic support that understands the whole family: emotional needs, practical barriers, and community connection. From workshops and resource events to real-world services designed to reduce stress and increase access, we are committed to meeting families where they are.
A Community That Grows Together
The Suggs Foundation’s work is not just about giving resources—it’s about building relationships. We aim to create spaces where families connect, share stories, learn from one another, and feel a true sense of belonging. Community events become moments of celebration. Workshops become opportunities for growth. And support becomes an enduring bond.
We are here to nurture confidence, spark joy, and ensure that every family finds the support and empowerment they deserve.
